Job Description –Accounting Clerk

 

Mission of the Role:

The Accounting Clerk will be a critical team member within the organization reporting directly to the Accounting Manager.  The Accounting Clerk must have superior organization and communication skills, while maintaining strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.  This individual will participate in the month-end close process for Southern Air, working closely with the locations, Accounts Payable, and Accounting Manager to ensure financial reporting integrity.  The Accounting Clerk will also be highly involved in the day-to-day operations in the accounting department and cash management. The successful candidate must show great initiative and have the ability to work with limited supervision.  The Accounting Clerk is responsible for maintaining check registers and ensuring proper manual check documentation is provided. The team member that fulfills this position must be willing to grow into additional responsibilities and tasks as deemed necessary.

 

 

Responsibilities and skills:

The Accounting Clerk will play a key support role in ensuring accurate Cash management.   Job responsibilities and required skills include:

  • Ensure all manual checks have proper supporting documentation, including prior vendor set up (W-9s)
  • Enter manual checks into JPM, Positive Pay, and Intacct.
  • Review for approval positive pay exceptions (daily)
  • ACH review/approval (daily)
  • Maintain check registers (daily)
  • Fill in for front desk clerk when needed
  • Have knowledge of Sage Intacct functionality and possess basic knowledge of general ledger accounting.
  • Work efficiently in MS Excel
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Perform an accurate and timely month-end and year-end close process and reconciliations
  • Assist with providing external auditors with all requested materials, in conjunction with various audits
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and implement streamlined procedures where possible
  • Execute the individual and team goals that support strategic and operational initiatives
  • Contribute to team culture

 

Experience:

  • Preferred 2+ years of prior related experience
  • Understand basic accounting and cash disbursement
  • Ability to communicate accounting and financial information into common language

Other:

Location: Pineville, LA

Compensation: $38,000 - $42,000 per year
